From 1 October 2010, the Equality Act replaced most of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Although, the Disability Equality Duty in the DDA continues to apply. CDA Surveyors can work with you to achieve the best and most cost effective solution in meeting your access needs; saving you money by implementing reasonable adjustments to your priority along with achieving safe disabled access and egress and of course DDA compliance. We advise upon reasonable measures to help you comply with the DDA.
Compliance should be painless as well as improving access for all disabled people. Access and egress planning is written into your detailed access statement as a continued plan towards achieving full DDA compliance in both new and old buildings.
Avoiding unnecessary expensive changes and meeting your needs and the needs of the disabled in a sensible manner is our priority.
Since Fire Certificates have been abolished there is now a legal requirement for a Fire Risk Assessment to be carried out for premises. The Fire Safety Order implemented under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) applies to most commercial premises and the task of Fire Safety Provisions will now be the 'responsible persons' liability to carry out a comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment.
A Written Fire Risk Assessment is required where five or more persons are employed. CDA Surveyors are able to prepare Fire Risk Assessment that meets the requirements of this legislation and are able to work with you to effectivly close out the recomendations.
A Fire Risk Assessment of proposed buildings may be used to satisfy a Building Control Body and/or Fire Authority as to the adequacy of fire safety solutions. In certain circumstances a Fire Authority may require sight of a Fire Risk Assessment report before confirming that the Fire Safety requirements are satisfactory.
